Ilya Grubert, violino

Nato a Riga, in Lettonia, ha iniziato gli studi alla Scuola di Musica E. Darzin. Considerato uno studente dal talento eccezionale, all'età di 14 anni continua gli studi con gli illusitri maestri russi Yuri Yankelevich e Zinaida Gileles e sotto Leonid Kogan al Conservatorio di Mosca. Nel 1975 vince il 1° premio al Concorso Sibelius di Helsinki e nel 1978 vince sia il primo premio al Concorso Paganini di Genova che al Concorso Tchaikovsky di Mosca. Da quel momento in poi ha suonato con le migliori orchestre del mondo. È stato diretto da Mariss Jansons, Gennady Rozhdesvensky, Voldemar Nelson, Mark Wigglesworth e Maxim Shostakovich. Ha suonato negli Stati Uniti, in Canada, in Australia e in tutta l'Europa. Vive in Olanda ed è docente al Conservatorio di Amsterdam. Suona un violino Pietro Guarnieri del 1740 appartenuto a Wieniawski.

Ilya Grubert, violin

Born in Riga, he began his studies at the E. Darzin School of Music in Riga. Considered a student of exceptional talent, at the age of fourteen he continued his studies with the famous Russian teachers Y. Yankelevich and Z. Gilels, and then under L. Kogan at the Moscow Conservatory. He earned his first international success at the Sibelius Competition in Helsinki in 1975. Subsequently, he won first prize in both the Paganini Competition in Genova and the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1978. Since this time he has had a distinguished career and performed with famous orchestras together with conductors such as M. Jansons, G. Rozhdesvensky, V. Nelson, M. Wigglesworth and M. Shostakovich. He toured in the United States, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe. He lives in Holland and is a professor at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He plays a 1740 violin by Pietro Guarneri, ex Wieniawski.
