Alexandre Vinnitski,
violin He began his musical studies at the prestigious Stoliarsky School in Odessa. In 1969, D. Oistrach invited him to continue his studies in his own class at the Moscow Conservatoire. In the second year, in 1972, he triumphed at the national violin competition in the USSR and in 1975 won first prize of the Moscow Conservatoire. In 1978, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition, also winning special prize for best interpretation of the obligatory piece. In 1984, he won the Premio Viotti in Italy. He has undertaken numerous tours around the world and flanks his solo career, started in 1979, with teaching. Nominated professor of violin at the Moscow Conservatoire following the death of Oistrach, he has since 1987 been a teacher at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and at the Fiesolo School of Music. Many of his students have distinguished themselves in national and international contests. |
